ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has directed to withdraw the recent increase in urea fertilizer prices. Fertilizer companies asked the government for 3 days.

Under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, a review meeting was held regarding the recent increase in urea fertilizer prices. In which the recent increase in urea fertilizer prices by fertilizer companies was discussed.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the increase in urea fertilizer prices should be withdrawn immediately. Reject the justifications offered by the fertilizer companies.

He said that farmers’ purchasing power should be increased by looking at it, while unilateral and sudden increase in urea fertilizer prices is not acceptable.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the fertilizer companies have asked for 3 days time to roll back the recent hike in urea fertilizer prices. Protecting the interests of farmers is the top priority of the government.

He said that the government will ensure uninterrupted supply of urea in Kharif season and a decision has been taken to import 2 lakh metric tonnes of urea fertilizer. If required, 5 lakh metric tonnes of urea fertilizer will also be imported.

The Federal Minister of Industry and Production directed the provinces to stop hoarding of urea fertilizer and illegal profiteering.
